Course Objectives

 

This course aims to introduce Research Methodology in the area of Information Technology for Postgraduate Students. Among the topics or issues discussed in this course includes the following:

  • The importance of Information Technology research.

  • Literature review methodology.

  • Research methodology for Information Technology i.e. formal method, literature review, prototype development, experimental and evaluation.

  • Differences between quantitative and qualitative studies.

  • Techniques of result writing, such as report writing, paper writing, and thesis writing.

  • Management of research - research proposal writing, supervising research activities, and management of research results.

  • 2 x Quizzes/Exercises, 2 x 5 =   10% 

  • 4 x Assignments, 4 x 10 = 40% 

  • 1 x Research Proposal, 1 x 30 =    30%

  • 1 x Proposal Slide, 1 x 10 =    10%

  • 1 x Proposal Presentation, 1 x 10 =  10% 

              TOTAL = 10% + 40% + 30% + 10% (8 submissions)
                                 + 10% (1 presentation) = 100 %
